Performance Bikes Magazine Feature - GIA's Motorcycle Frame Kit for Freddie Spencer Honda Evo Special Build AMA Replica http://www.giaengineering.co.uk/new-front-page-blog/gia001-performance-bikes.html http://www.giaengineering.co.uk/new-front-page-blog/gia001-performance-bikes.html GIA 001 - Best Naked Ever! Featured in this month's Performance Bikes Magazine

The long awaited pictures of Moriwaki's Honda Evo (GIA 001) published in this months Performance Bikes Magazine! Front Page coverage - Best naked ever!! Plus an in depth feature inside.

Honda EvoThe GIA 001 feature has been a long time coming, we promised Steve (aka Moriwaki) that we wouldn't reveal too much about his special build until after it had been published. His inspiration was a thought he often pondered with.... If RSC (Race Service Centre - Honda's forerunner of HRC) was to build a bike for Freddie Spencer now, how would it look? And a few years down the line, lot's of blood sweat and tears! The Honda XR1157 Evo is on the road.

When Steve came to GIA we were just setting up, he heard about Gavin leaving Spondon from a mutual friend and knew he was the man for the job. He had previously had a one off chassis built for this project but just wasn't happy with it!...... this guy really is a perfectionist and when he commissioned us to build his Aluminium Big Tube, Duplex Twin Shock Chassis, Gavin knew it would be a real test of his skills and ability to create what the customer wants.

It was a real pleasure working with Steve, he had high expectations but was easily pleased by Gav's attention to detail.... we must have exchanged hundreds of emails and photos and Steve was buzzing with enthusiasm each step of the way. The end result was the frame and swingarm he had dreamed of and he sang our praises to anyone interested in Motorcycle Frame Building (and OSS members) which resulted in lot's more business for GIA. So thanks Steve, it's been a pleasure working with you, we look forward to the next build! :)

There has been no expense spared with this Special Build, Dymag Wheels (16 inch front) YOSHIMURA MIKUNI 40mm TMR MJN SMOOTHBORE FLATSLIDES (Only ones in the UK to best of our knowledge) Motec dash (£2k) Brembo GP-Spec master cyclinders, one off rear shock units (made by Works Performance in California) One off 'Racefit' exhaust system and every fastener is titanium including engine bolts and wheel spindles!

GIA003 G-TEK GSXR / MV Augusta Framekit Build Stage 3 http://www.giaengineering.co.uk/new-front-page-blog/frame-build-gia003stage3.html http://www.giaengineering.co.uk/new-front-page-blog/frame-build-gia003stage3.html GIA003 GSXR 1260 / MV Augusta / G-Tek: Stage 3

The GSXR frame kit is now at rolling chassis stage with only the bespoke aluminium petrol tank left to fit

We fitted the sub frame and the customer's Z1 seat unit, made some spacers to fit the yolks and cover the bearings (to keep the dirt out). Finally we put the shiny new aluminium frame on it's running gear and fitted the dummy engine ready to fit the petrol tank and battery.

GIA003 is coming together now, the frame-kit for the GSXR 1260 engine and MV Augusta swingarm is taking shape.

Previously the tubes were fitted and tacked into position. Since then the Sub Frame has been made and both the Frame & Sub-Frame were TIG Welded. The welding took a good day....perfect welds are not optional but essential for these projects and no corners can be cut. The CNC Billet Gussets were fitted and tacked into position.

A good few days were spent working with the suspension points for the MV Augusta Swingarm, making sure we were happy with the set-up and positioning. The brackets made to fit were machined and lovingly finished by hand with the file and a good polish.

Not too much more to do now, expecting this one to be out the door this month.

We're back on track now and on with the next frame build from our list of bookings :) The current project is a Big Tube Aluminium Frame, Sub Frame and Hand Made Aluminium Petrol Tank for a GSXR 1260 Engine.

The customer is using a Zed Tail unit, MV Augusta Swingarm, MV Augusta Forks & MV Augusta Wheels (190 Back Tire).

This is the second Martek styled (we named it G-Tek) frame we have built and the first job was bending and shaping the tubes, next the tubes are polished to a mirror shine before being fitted and tacked togther in the JIG.

Big Tube Aluminium Single Sided Swingarm Build http://www.giaengineering.co.uk/new-front-page-blog/singlesider-biketec.html http://www.giaengineering.co.uk/new-front-page-blog/singlesider-biketec.html Single Sider for Biketec's K2 1000

Well, our first entry in this new blog marks the first singlesider to leave the GIA stables! We are snowed under with work right now, which is great!

We were in the middle of moving whilst making this singlesider and there really wasn't enough hours in the day!

So cheers to Mickey @ Biketec for his patience! The arm has been cleverly developed from 7020 T6 Big Tube Aluminium, it is shaped and made with no joins in the tube (in the same way top Motorcycle Builders like Spondon Engineering make them). Needless to say Mickey from Biketec is chuffed to bits with the arm, which is fitted to Biketec's Suzuki K2 1000
